Osteopathy is a gentle, hands-on form of manual therapy that views the body as an interconnected whole. Rather than focusing only on where symptoms are felt, osteopathic treatment seeks to understand why they developed by assessing how your entire body is moving and functioning.
At the heart of classical osteopathy is the principle that structure and function are inseparable. When the body is in better structural balance and its tissues move freely, muscles, joints, connective tissues, and internal organs are able to work together more efficiently. This supports healthy circulation, efficient nerve communication, and balanced movement throughout the body.
Our arteries, veins, and lymphatics are responsible for delivering oxygen and nutrients to tissues while carrying away waste products. At the same time, our nervous system continuously coordinates communication between every part of the body. When restrictions develop, these systems may not function as efficiently as they could. By improving structural alignment, restoring healthy motion, and reducing restrictions, osteopathic treatment helps optimize the function of these pathways, nourishing tissues and creating an environment where the body can better adapt, regulate, and support its own healing processes.

Osteopathy is suitable for people of all ages and stages of life.
Whether you're recovering from an injury, managing chronic discomfort, looking to improve mobility, or simply wanting to support your overall health, osteopathic treatment may be beneficial.
Some common reasons people seek osteopathic care include:
Back and neck pain
Headaches and migraines
TMJ dysfunction
Joint stiffness
Sciatica
Disc-related concerns
Plantar fasciitis
Digestive discomfort
Chronic pain
Reduced mobility
General wellness and preventative care
While osteopathic manual practitioners do not diagnose medical conditions, treatment focuses on restoring healthy motion and function throughout the body to support your overall health.

Osteopathic treatment is a gentle, hands-on approach to care.
Your appointment will begin with a discussion about your health history, concerns, and goals. During treatment, we will use gentle manual techniques to assess and improve movement throughout your body. You may be asked to take a deep breath, gently move a limb, contract a muscle or change positions, but most of the treatment is passive, meaning you can simply relax while we guide your body through treatment.
Treatment should never be painful, and many patients find it to be a calming and relaxing experience.
-
Please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily.
Athletic clothing such as leggings, yoga pants, shorts, sweatpants, and a comfortable T-shirt works best. Because you'll remain fully clothed throughout treatment, clothing that stretches and allows access to different areas of the body helps me perform a thorough assessment.
-
Arriving well hydrated helps support your body's natural tissues and can make treatment more comfortable.
We recommend drinking plenty of water before and after your appointment. Following treatment, many patients also benefit from light movement, such as an easy walk, while allowing their body time to adjust over the next day or two.

No. You do not need a referral from your physician or another healthcare provider to book an osteopathic appointment.
However, some extended health insurance plans may require a referral for reimbursement. If you're planning to submit your treatment through insurance, it's a good idea to check with your provider before your appointment.

Every person is different, so there isn't a one-size-fits-all answer. Some people notice significant improvement after only a few treatments, while others benefit from ongoing care depending on their health goals and the nature of their concerns.
My goal is always to provide care that is thoughtful and individualized. Together, we'll discuss your progress and create a treatment plan that best supports your needs, without recommending appointments you don't need.
-
No. Osteopathic treatment is designed to be gentle and should never be painful. While you may feel areas of tension or restriction being addressed, treatment is always adapted to your comfort level.
Some people notice mild soreness or fatigue for a day or two afterward, similar to what you might experience after exercise, as your body adapts to treatment. This is a normal response and typically resolves quickly.
-
Not at all.
While many people seek osteopathic care because they're experiencing pain or discomfort, treatment can also help support healthy movement, improve mobility, and maintain overall function. Many patients choose to continue with occasional treatments as part of their overall approach to health and wellness.

Osteopathy takes a whole-body approach to healthcare. Rather than focusing only on where symptoms are felt, treatment aims to understand how different areas of the body may be influencing one another.
By restoring healthy movement and reducing restrictions throughout the body, osteopathic treatment supports your body's natural ability to function, adapt, and heal.
